Hands that comforted thousands now plead for kindness!

Rajendran V. Babu popularly known as SASS Babu among his well wishers and admires at Alappuzha (Kerala, India) for his charity work among orphaned mental patients from street is now himself a Cancer Patient. With neither a home to return or an income to survive his wife and son sit silently near his sick bed staring to an uncertain future.

A couple of years back Babu was an active social worker closely associated with Alappuzha Medical College hospital. He was in the forefront to organize blood donors for the poor and needy patients. Social Awareness Society (SAS) under his inspiring leadership was a vibrant organization of socially committed individuals including volunteer blood donors. Many a lives were saved through the timely intervention of Rajendra Babu. For over four decades he played the role of a selfless angel to the poor patients. He was there to find a home for the aged, discarded mental patients etc.

His book ‘Reynold achante snehajeevitham’ was about the director of St.Antony’s Orphanage who dedicated his entire life for the poor orphans of Alappuzha. Rajendra Babu was a link between orphans and orphanages of every kind. From streets and hospitals he guided the poor and needy to these institutions. He was the guiding light for many to salvage their orphaned lives from the gutters and streets.

Now this selfless individual is a cancer patient fighting for his life at the cancer ward of Kottayam Medical College.  He was never ashamed to beg for others but reluctant to do it for himself. He has no income, no home but only your kindness to console him and his family consisting of wife and son. As a token of our appreciation and gratitude for this Good Samaritan’s selfless deeds for the poor we have to provide a helping hand when he is down and helpless.
